“Thank you to the administration at UTHSC for this honor and your unceasing support of the library,” Dr. Fought said. “Thank you also to my colleagues across campus and the wonderful library staff I am privileged to lead. I am truly fortunate to work at such a great institution with such incredible and dedicated people. I am excited for what’s next for the library and how we can better serve the faculty, staff, and students at UTHSC.”

Dr. Fought has been the director of the Health Sciences Library since 2016 and in his new role, will continue to report to Lori Gonzalez, PhD, vice chancellor for Academic, Faculty and Student Affairs at UTHSC.

“Dr. Fought’s promotion is an important recognition of his many accomplishments since his arrival at UTHSC in 2011,” Dr. Gonzalez said. “Additionally, his national reputation as a health science library leader was an important consideration in his promotion.”

The Health Sciences Library has developed several innovative projects, collaborating with UTHSC deans, vice chancellors and students, to improve library services and education and research support.

Dr. Fought is a Fellow of the National Library of Medicine/Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries Leadership Fellows Program and is the chair-elect of the Consortium of Southern Biomedical Libraries.
