MaryAnn Clark Named Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center

MaryAnn Clark, EdD, has been named the associate vice chancellor for academic affairs for the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC).

Dr. Clark received her Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy from The Ohio State University. She went on to earn a Master of Arts degree from New York University in pathokinesiology and her Doctor of Education degree in higher education administration and supervision from the University of Houston. In addition, she completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Aidekman Research Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience at Rutgers University. She has taken graduate management courses at Harvard University and Cornell University respectively.

Most recently, Dr. Clark relocated from Boston, Massachusetts, where she served as professor and associate provost for health professions at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Science. Prior appointments include professor and dean, School of Health Professions and Nursing at Long Island University in Post Campus, New York, and professor of physical therapy and orthopedics and associate provost at Seton Hall University in New Jersey.  She has held other administrative positions at Seton Hall, and has been a professor at institutions in New Jersey and Texas.

In her current position, Dr. Clark provides leadership in academic affairs and program development across all colleges and programs offered at UTHSC.  She collaborates with vice chancellors, deans, program directors, faculty and system administrators in support of the institution’s educational mission and strategic priorities to educate graduates who meet the needs of the state and region.

She is also responsible for the oversight and coordination of program planning and program assessment, curriculum development, and academic policy, along with fostering interprofessional and cross-campus collaborations to ensure that the UTHSC Office of Academic Affairs provides excellent support for all academic programs and activities offered at UTHSC. The position will directly report to Lori Gonzalez, PhD, vice chancellor of Academic, Faculty, and Student Affairs at UTHSC.
