Dr. Kerem Kalpakci PhD., a Senior R&D Engineer working at Medtronic in Biologics will be our speaker Thursday, September 11, 2014.
Dr. Kalpakci has been at Medtronic for 3 years. Before that he was a bioengineering grad student at Rice in Houston. He is part of the Biologics organization within Medtronic Spinal; which means he designs products that promote new bone growth for spinal, orthopedic and dental procedures, often in conjunction with a device. He’s going to share and recall his own journey in grad school, where he struggled to get information about industry jobs, even though he knew that was where he ultimately wanted to end up. He has agreed to speak to our group about what he did (and didn’t do) as a grad student to get industry jobs. If you’d like to ask questions, consider asking about his work at Medtronic and the pros/cons of working at a big device company.
