Like so many Americans, we watched in horror as George Floyd transitioned from “is” to “was” — choked by the hate in a white police officer’s shin.
We watched in horror as Ahmaud Arbery transitioned from “is” to “was” — pierced by bullets of racism while jogging down his street. While we and scores of others have watched these and similar but silent transitions – few of us who are not black, have truly seen – a lack of understanding captured by the pervasive question on social media: “Why are they so mad?”
