UTHSC, U of M share $6 million to improve rural health care

Two nursing programs in Memphis have received $6 million to improve access to primary and maternal care and mental health services in parts of the Mid-South where care is spotty. The federal money from the Health Resources and Services Administration will be split between nursing programs at the University of Memphis and University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Both are creating programs to use nurses with advanced degrees to bridge the gaps in rural areas.
