Restaurant restrictions could return, as Shelby County sets new COVID record

As is the case elsewhere, COVID conditions are worsening quickly in Shelby County. On Tuesday, 835 new cases were reported, making it the county’s worst day heretofore. In the past seven days alone, about 1 in 315 county residents have been diagnosed with COVID. Dr. Jon McCullers — the Pediatrician-in-Chief at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and an infectious disease expert who has played a major advisory role to local officials — told MBJ Nov. 16 that the socialization category is accounting for more than 50% of the spread, and restaurants are accounting for a much lower percentage.
