At least two of the hundreds of people at the Block Party for Peace on Saturday share a nickname: both Louis Taper and Tennessee Rep. Antonio Parkinson answer to “2 Shay.”It’s a nickname Parkinson, creator of the 3-day event for Raleigh and Frayser, was given while in the Marine Corps. Inspired by the cartoon character Touché Turtle, it was “the only laugh we got in bootcamp,” Parkinson said.
