The coronavirus pandemic is estimated to cost the University of Tennessee System $147 million, the Board of Trustees reported Thursday. The biggest hit for this fiscal year comes from UT Athletics’ lost revenue and not being able to host large events on campus. On top of that, universities in the system had additional safety costs to open in person this semester, including cleaning supplies, personal protection equipment and creating isolation spaces.
