Two University of Tennessee Health Science Center faculty members have received federal grants for their research. Monica M. Jablonski, professor in the Department of Ophthalmology in UTHSC’s College of Medicine, was awarded more than $1.5 million from the National Institutes of Health to help uncover the underlying mechanisms that cause glaucoma and develop targeted therapies to preserve retinal health in patients at risk for glaucoma. Ramesh Narayanan, associate professor in the Department of Medicine-Hematology and adjunct associate professor in the Departments of Urology and Pharmaceutical Sciences at UTHSC, was awarded over $2 million from the National Institutes of Health to develop novel tools and next-generation drugs to treat aggressive forms of prostate cancer.
