Memphis area researchers awarded $308,000 grant to study dystonia treatments

Dr. Mohammed Moshahid Khan, PhD, principal investigator and associate professor in the Department of Neurology in the UT Health Science Center College of Medicine, was recently awarded the grant to investigate the role of the gut microbiome for the potential treatment of dystonia, a movement disorder that can cause abnormal postures and involuntary twisting or repetitive movements.  Dr. Jianfeng Xiao, MD, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Neurology, will co-investigate the study.
