Childhood cancer research funding awarded

The largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants has included two local institutions in its latest round of financing. Grants from Los Angeles-based St. Baldrick’s Foundation totaling more than $1.1 million were awarded to researchers at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. St. Jude received the bulk of the funding, with four grants for a combined total of $1 million. The grant awards began July 1.
