Hassan Aziz Appointed To International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science Scientific Network of Experts

Hassan Aziz, PhD, FACSs, MLS(ASCP)cm, associate dean for Academic, Faculty and Student Affairs and interim chair of the Department of Diagnostic and Health Sciences in the College of Health Professions at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, has been appointed to the International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science (IFBLS) Scientific Network of Experts. Dr. Aziz has been involved with the network for five years and represents the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science.

The IFBLS Scientific Network of Experts develops position statements, documents and tasks for the World Health Organization related to the area of biomedical laboratory science. This committee is also responsible for promoting international scientific standards and for developing special interest groups in the various branches of biomedical science within the 35-country membership of the network.

“We are very proud of Dr. Aziz for this accomplishment,” said Stephen E. Alway, PhD, FACSM, dean of the College of Health Professions. “These high-level appointments showcase the recognition of Dr. Aziz’s impact on his profession and his outstanding international representation of the College of Health Professions and UTHSC.”

Dr. Aziz will also serve on the IFBLS Laboratory Management Advisory Group, which develops continuing education modules and serve on the editorial board of the International Journal of Biomedical Laboratory Science.
