Dick Gourley, PharmD, dean of the UTHSC College of Pharmacy, was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Hungarian Private Pharmacists’ Association (HPPA) at the association’s national convention in Siofok, Hungary.

Dick Gourley, PharmD, dean of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Pharmacy, was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Hungarian Private Pharmacists’ Association (HPPA) at the association’s national convention in Siofok, Hungary in October.

“The Lifetime Achievement Award is an acknowledgement of the best in the profession and historically has been given to a pharmacist or educator who has made an outstanding contribution to Hungarian pharmaceutical practice or science. Dr. Gourley is the only non-Hungarian ever to receive this award, which is quite a distinction,” noted Antal Samu, PharmD, immediate past president of HPPA.

Dean Gourley has held several leadership positions throughout his distinguished career. Prior to joining UTHSC as dean, he was a dean and provost at Mercer University, Atlanta, and before that, founding chairman of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha.

Internationally recognized in the field of pharmacy, Dean Gourley has published widely in referred journals, edited textbooks and workbooks, and presented lectures worldwide. He received his doctoral degree from UTHSC and has completed post graduate work at Harvard University.
