Four University of Tennessee Health Science Center Faculty Named 2017 UT Research Foundation Maturation Fund Winners

The University of Tennessee Research Foundation (UTRF) announced its 2017 Maturation Funding recipients on December 15, 2016, granting four University of Tennessee Health Science Center faculty inventors $15,000 each to further develop their technology and answer important commercialization questions. Each year UTRF awards grants through its annual Maturation Funding program which is designed to help researchers bring new technologies to market. Of the 40 applications received this year, 8 groups of faculty inventors will receive awards.

The 2016 UTRF Health Science Center awardees and their project titles are:

  • Mojdeh Dehghan- “An Easy, Practical, and Immediate Saliva Neutralization and Remineralization Treatment for Tooth Erosion”
  • Denis DiAngelo- “Dynamic Ankle Orthosis for Alleviating Pain and Preserving Motion”
  • Tayebeh Pourmotabbed- “Advancement of a novel DNAzyme therapy for Huntington’s Disease”
  • Maddie Singer- “Strapless CPAP Device for Sleep Apnea”
