“First Years Last a Lifetime: Tracing the Roots of Violence”

Sponsored by the Children’s Foundation of Memphis and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, the 21st annual Forum on Child Health will be held from 8 to 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, October 14 in the auditorium at LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center.

Titled “First Years Last a Lifetime: Tracing the Roots of Violence,” this year’s event will address how environment and nurturing can have a powerful impact on a child’s developmental potential. Case studies will be presented on why children commit violent behavior, followed by discussion on how youth violence can become an issue of national security and terrorism.

The Forum on Child Health was established in 1983 through a generous gift from the Crippled Children’s Foundation. In 2001 the foundation’s name was changed to the Children’s Foundation of Memphis. The forum has become one of the largest pediatric seminars in the city addressing the most current topics relating to children’s health.

The registration deadline is Friday, October 8, and the cost is $10 per person.
