A coalition of student organizations at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center is sponsoring a debate on presidential election issues on Tuesday, October 26 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Link Auditorium located at 855 Monroe Avenue on the UTHSC campus. The general public is welcome to attend.

The debate will focus on five main categories: health care, social issues, international policy, homeland security, and civil rights. David Cocke, chair of the Memphis Kerry-Edwards campaign, will speak on behalf of the Democratic Party representing presidential candidate Senator John Kerry. Kemp Conrad, Shelby County Republican Party chair, will speak on behalf of incumbent, President George W. Bush. Each representative will be given two to three minutes to address issues, and students and members of the general public will be allowed to submit questions to the student moderators.

An attorney for the Bogatin Law Firm, PLC, Cocke also serves as vice chair of the Shelby County Democratic Party.

Conrad is vice-president of corporate advisory services for Trammell Crow Company. A frequent political commentator for local media outlets, he was elected in 2002 to represent District 30 on the Tennessee Republican State Executive Committee.
