Christopher Finch Named Chair of Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science at UTHSC

Marie Chisholm-Burns, PharmD, MPH, MBA, FCCP, FASHP, dean and professor in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), has named Christopher Finch, PharmD, as chair of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science for the college.

Dr. Finch will begin his new role on July 8. He will be responsible for the department’s strategic planning, budget and fiscal management, policies and procedures, communications, recruitment, annual performance evaluations, and for developing and fostering relationships with health care institutions, organizations, affiliates, pharmacies, and associations. His duties extend to all three of the college’s campuses: Memphis, Knoxville, and Nashville.

Prior to his new appointment, Dr. Finch, an alumnus of the college, served as the director of pharmacy for Methodist University Hospital. He was also an associate professor of pharmacy instructing students in therapeutics, pharmacology, and drug monitoring at Auburn University and the University of Alabama. He is involved in several organizations including the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, the Tennessee Pharmacist Association, Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society, and more. Dr. Finch was recently named Tom C. Sharp Pharmacist of the Year at the Tennessee Pharmacist Association Summer meeting.

Before receiving his doctoral degree, Dr. Finch earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry, magna cum laude, from Lambuth University in Jackson, Tennessee.
