April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

|

April is designated as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Across the state, Child Abuse Prevention Providers help raise awareness by planting Pinwheel Gardens. Each pinwheel honors one of the 95,000 babies expected to be born in our state this year – and represents the belief that getting it right early in childhood is less costly than trying to turn around and fix problems when the child is older.  Since 1998, The Boling Center for Developmental Disabilities has provided prevention services to parents and teens to help  give our children a healthy start.  The University of Tennessee Health Science Center is joining in this campaign by planting pinwheels gardens on campus to high light the need for our children to experience a safe and nurturing childhood. For more information regarding Child Abuse Prevention services offered through the Boling Center, contact Belinda Tate Hardy, LCSW, at 448-6669.
