During the month of March, the Office of Equity and Diversity, in partnership with the Women’s Resource Group, will be offering events to commemorate National Women’s History Month.   

 Please join us for a luncheon on March 6 to kick off UTHSC’s celebration of Women’s History Month.  This event will feature a special guest speaker, local activist Tami Sawyer.

Location: SAC Main Dining Hall

Tami Sawyer is a writer, speaker, and social justice and education advocate.  A native Memphian, Tami spent ten years in Washington DC, studying at Howard University School of Law, exploring various entrepreneurial endeavors, and working as a human capital analyst with a focus on diversity.

Tami currently serves as the Director of Diversity & Cultural Competence with Teach For America Memphis.  Tami was named by The Tennessean and Commercial Appeal as one of 18 Tennesseans to watch in 2018, and was included in the Commercial Appeal’s 2017 Person of the Year recognition. Tami was a speaker at TEDx Memphis 2016, and has been featured in The New York Times, Al Jazeera, NPR, BBC Radio, Huffington Post, MLK50, and the covers of The New Tri-State Defender, Memphis Flyer, Commercial Appeal and Memphis Daily News.
