The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in its observance of November’s
Diabetes Awareness Month will be showing their support for those with diabetes by hosting their Annual “Denim for Diabetes Day”. Yes we are turning the campus blue, Wednesday, November 14, 2018. To serve as ambassadors for diabetes awareness, for a donation of $5.00 you can acquire a Denim for Diabetes sticker which will allow you the opportunity to wear jeans on that day. A group picture will be taken at 12:30pm in the Madison Lobby. See list below for distribution points.
Diabetes is a disease which has no cure. More than 29 million children and adults have diabetes and many others are at risk for developing the disease. Many people on campus are affected by diabetes in one way or another. To better inform and prepare our campus we will be having a health fair where we will provide health screenings, checking blood pressure, other biometric screening while educating you on the services that are available for prevention and care. The health fair is Wednesday November 14th from 11:30am – 1:30pm in the Madison Plaza Lobby. Other activities are planned for that day including music, games, food, prizes and more. Throwback UTHSC StepOut Team t-shirts and StepOUT American Diabetes Association (ADA) t-shirts are on sale for $5.00, not all sizes are available – Call 901.448.5318 for more details.
