Altmetrics using Scopus focuses on Scopus, a citation database provided by the Health Sciences Library. The influence of social media is pervasive in the scientific and scholarly literature. Altmetrics are positioned as a resource to provide an impact rating for published works. The premise behind altmetrics is its reliance on social media sites such as LinkedIn, Twitter, and even Facebook to identify mentions of current and emerging publications. Altmetric searches can also discover information managed by online sites such as Zotero and Mendeley.
