Trauma-Informed Care Workshop Thu 4/22 11 am

Join the Community Engaged Care Program on Thursday, April 22 11 am-12:30 pm for a virtual
Social Determinants of Health Intensive workshop on Trauma-Informed Care with Dr. Altha J.
Stewart (UTHSC College of Medicine). Trauma-Informed Care is an approach that recognizes the
presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledges the role trauma may play in an individual’s
life. Providing trauma-informed care emphasizes respecting and appropriately responding to
the effects of trauma at all levels while avoiding re-traumatization. This workshop will provide
participants with the skills to recognize trauma symptoms and respond to their effects in a
patient-centered approach to care.
