Happy National Hispanic Heritage Month to all of those celebrating!
With the Latinx population making up such a large portion of the US, it is imperative that we do our best to properly serve this special group in our future practice as healthcare providers. Sometimes these interactions may require additional support with translation services, which may take away from building the patient-provider relationship.
Phi Delta Chi is helping to bridge this gap by selling Medical Spanish Translation Badges (see examples below). While these do not always take the place of formal translation for counseling, they include basic informational phrases and questions that allow you to engage with and collect relevant information from the patient while waiting for a translator. These simple efforts help the patient to build trust and confidence in your services.
We will be selling single badges for $10, and packages of 4 for $35. There are general options that apply to all healthcare professions, as well as several specialty options based on where you do/want to practice. You must complete the order form and make a payment to @PDCOmega via Venmo by Monday, October 10th.
