Next week the library is offering the following workshops:
APPR Workflow and Digital Measures- Faculty Submission (Tues. and Thurs.)
Join us to review the new Annual Planning and Performance Review (APPR) Workflow process within Digital Measures. We will discuss preparing your materials for APPR and take a look at the faculty submission step within the Workflow module of Digital Measures.
Introduction to Digital Measures (Tues.)
This one-hour online workshop will provide an introduction to Digital Measures, the database used by UTHSC for recording and tracking faculty teaching, research and service activities. You will learn how to take full advantage of Digital Measures by inputting professional data and uploading documents on an ongoing basis. Keeping the information that is stored in Digital Measures up-to-date throughout the year pays off considerably when it comes time for annual review.
Introduction to EndNote (Tues.)
This one-hour online workshop will provide an introduction to EndNote, a reference management tool that will streamline your research process from collecting/importing references from online databases (e.g., PubMed) to citing sources in a desired writing style.
In this workshop, you will learn EndNote basics including creating and customizing an EndNote Library, adding citations to the Library using different methods, creating groups to organize references, de-duplicating identical results, finding full-text PDFs for your references, and using Cite While You Write (CWYW) with Microsoft Word.
Research Impact Demystified
Join us for a discussion of scholarly research impact metrics. We will discuss common metrics, their advantages and limitations, and sources for those metrics. We will also learn how to match metrics to purpose by looking separately at journal, publication, and author level measures. By the end of this workshop you should be able to:
- identify examples, purpose, and limitations of both common and alternative metrics, and sources for those metrics
- understand journal vs article vs author level metrics
- choose and compile the correct metrics for your purpose
- track and enhance your visibility and impact with online profiles and scholarly IDs
