Link, Johnson, Wittenborg – Backup Power Outage

|

During the week of April 28–May 2 the Johnson, Link, and Wittenborg emergency power circuits will be affected by brief 10-minute power outages. Emergency circuits are frequently identified with a red outlet and red faceplate. Please plan your work accordingly and inspect equipment powered by these circuits (e.g., freezers) after the shutdown to ensure that it re-energizes properly.

As part of the Emergency Generator project at the Johnson, Link, and Wittenborg buildings, the contractor will be replacing the three Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) that serve the building. Normal building power is not expected to be interrupted. The emergency circuit power outages are planned to take place as follows:

Building Date Time Comment
Link April 30 8:00 am (10 minutes)

3:00 pm (10 minutes)

Kill power to ATS #3 for approximately 10 minutes to transfer to temporary power. Return to permanent power around 3:00 pm
Johnson May 2 8:00 am (10 minutes)

3:00 pm (10 minutes)

Kill power to ATS #2 for approximately 10 minutes to swap power over. Replace ATS and swap power back over around 3:00 pm.
Wittenborg May 5 8:00 am (10 minutes)

Kill power to ATS #4 for approximately 10 minutes to swap power over. Start replacing ATS #4.
Wittenborg May 6 10:00 pm (10 minutes) Swap power back over upon completion of ATS #4 replacement.

The Facilities Team will be on-site throughout the process to provide support. Please contact the onsite Team or Edwin Jeffres at ejeffres@uthsc.edu if you have any questions or experience any issues.
