Conference Description:
The goal of Interprofessional Education (IPE) of health care providers is to provide evidence-based and comprehensive health care for diverse patients. This conference examines an IPE approach to understanding the correlation between oral and systemic health, specifically in the context of examining the role IPE plays in assessing and treating chronic conditions among older adults. Older adults are one of society’s most vulnerable populations. As such their health care needs transcend the individual health care provider and encompass diverse roles played by various health professionals.
The morning session will feature three internationally known presenters: Dr. Rita Jablonski (University of Alabama-Birmingham), Dr. James Little (Little’s Consulting) and Ms. Casey Hein (University of Manitoba), who will present on Interprofessional Education topics related to the oral and systemic health care link.
The afternoon session will begin with student case reports, followed by an Expert Panel discussion and Question/Answer session. The day’s activities culminate with a closed, invitation only session with the presenters and University Faculty.
