International Women’s Day Celebration
Date: Friday, March 7, 2025
The Office of Access and Compliance (OAC) invites the entire UTHSC campus to join us in celebrating the women on our campus, especially those who exemplify Innovation, Leadership and Excellence. There are three ways to participate:
- Show support for women by wearing Purple, Green, and/or White on March 7th , 2025. Purple, green, and white are the colors of women’s suffrage and are widely adopted for International Women’s Day. Their use originated from the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) in the UK, founded in 1903.
- Purple signifies justice and dignity and being loyal to the cause.
- Green symbolizes hope.
- White represents purity, albeit a controversial concept. Yet, the wearing of white is a symbol of sisterhood and solidarity, respecting and representing the progress made by those who have fought for women’s suffrage.
- Stop by our photo booth to get your picture taken, showing your support for women at UTHSC. Photos will be placed on the UTHSC Facebook page as part of a social media campaign #womenshistorymonth #uthsc. All participants receive a fun prize! We encourage offices/department to come all at once for group photos, if possible.
