Effective March 10, 2014, Sgt. Beverly Avis will become the Interim Assistant Director of Parking Authority while a search for a permanent assistant director is underway.
Sgt. Avis has been employed with the UTHSC since November 1977. She started her career with the university as a police dispatcher and later became one of the first female police officers hired at the HSC. Sgt. Avis soon moved on to serve the HSC as a police sergeant until she assumed the lead role of electronic access control supervisor, where she has diligently worked for 14 years.
She holds a B.S. in Justice Administration and an A.A.S. in Legal Assistance Technologies. Sgt Avis is the daughter of the late Emeritus Faculty member, Dr. Kenneth Avis.
