The University of Tennessee Health Science Center campuses and clinics comprise the health care component of the University of Tennessee under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). To comply with this Act, effective February 1, 2014, we have appointed Ms. Kmily Manns (Compliance Officer) as Privacy Officer to be responsible for our compliance efforts regarding the Privacy Rule. The Privacy Rule regulates the use and disclosure of certain information held by “Covered Entities” and establishes regulations for the use and disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).
