The Georgia Center for Diabetes Translation Research (GCDTR) is pleased to announce the 2025 Regional Technology Core Pilot Project Program, offering up to $30,000 in funding for one-year projects. This opportunity supports innovative research leveraging technology to address disparities in diabetes prevention and care.
This RFA is open for investigators at UTHSC to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) and if accepted a full grant proposal.
Key Details:
- Funding Amount: Up to $30,000 for one year
- Focus Areas:
- T2 – T4 translation research related to diabetes, complications, prediabetes/metabolic syndrome, or obesity prevention/treatment.
- Projects utilizing technology (AI, wearables, digital health, etc.) to broaden disease management dissemination and health promotion, with a focus on health equity.
Eligibility:
- Faculty researchers from GCDTR partner institutions:
- University of Florida
- University of Miami
- University of Tennessee Health Science Center
- Jaeb Center for Health Research
- Early career faculty or established investigators proposing new directions in diabetes translation research with a junior-level Co-PI.
Example Research Topics:
- Addressing algorithmic bias in diabetes technologies
- Evaluating the adoption of wearables among underserved populations
- Using AI and big data for personalized diabetes care
- Developing culturally responsive digital health interventions
- Enhancing EHR integration for equitable care
Important Dates:
- Letter of Intent (LOI) Due: Friday, April 25, 2025
- Studio Consultations with Core Faculty: April 28 – May 15, 2025
- Application Deadline: Friday, May 16, 2025
- Anticipated Project Start Date: Tuesday, July 1, 2025
LOI Requirements (One-Page Maximum):
- Descriptive title of proposed research
- Overall aims and hypotheses
- How the project advances the investigator’s career trajectory
- Description of how health equity is being addressed
- Name, e-mail address, and telephone number of the Principal Investigator and all key personnel
