On Saturday, Sept. 27, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) will host a Domestic Violence Awareness Forum from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the UTHSC Student-Alumni Center, 800 Madison Avenue, Memphis. Free and open to the public, the event will feature the voices and stories of domestic abuse survivors. In addition, various community groups will cover such topics as orders of protection, women’s shelters for victims of abuse, legal services, safety centers, and law enforcement’s role in situations of abuse. Sponsored by Alpha Eta Zeta-DOVE Foundation, Inc., and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Alpha Eta Zeta Chapter, the event focuses on Breaking the Silence that surrounds domestic violence.
