Congrats & Farewell to Dr. Deidre Daria

|

We are saddened to announce that Dr. Deidre Daria, Director of the Flow Cytometry & Cell Sorting (FCCS) Core since 2022, has left the UT Health Science Center for a new research position at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Her final day was January 31, 2024. Please join the Office of Research in thanking Dr. Daria for her dedication to our research community.

During her seven years with the FCCS, Dr. Daria served as a Flow Cytometry Specialist and later as Scientific Director. She also held the interim position of Associate Vice Chancellor of the Institutional Research Cores since August 2024. Notable achievements under her leadership include: securing funding for the Cytek Aurora CS, significantly enhancing our research capabilities; conducting numerous seminars that developed the FCCS as a key academic resource, benefiting both UTHSC and the Memphis research community; and raising the core’s profile by serving as treasurer for SEASR and vice-president of SEFCIG, fostering collaboration among researchers.

While we will miss her leadership and expertise, we wish her all the best in her new role at St. Jude. Thank you, Deidre, for your remarkable contributions to the UT Health Science Center!

Dr. Elizabeth Fitzpatrick will serve as the interim director of the FCCS Core effective immediately. Please refer all inquiries regarding FCCS services to Dr. Fitzpatrick at efitzpatrick@uthsc.edu.
