From compounding hand sanitizer to learning how prescriptions are interpreted, our Health Career Explorers ended the day with a deeper understanding of the many ways pharmacists improve patient care.
Thursday, Sept. 24, was another outstanding day of career exploration and hands-on learning for our Health Career Explorers!
A special thank you to the UT Health Sciences College of Pharmacy for hosting our students and providing an engaging look into the profession of pharmacy. We are especially grateful to Dr. Chasity Shelton and pharmacy student leaders Ryan Diaz, Faith Dean and Alicia Brown for creating an interactive experience that allowed our Explorers to:
- Make their own hand sanitizer
- Learn how pharmacists read and interpret prescriptions
- Explore pharmacy career pathways
- Learn about leadership and service opportunities through the Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA)
These experiences are invaluable in helping students connect their interests to future healthcare careers while building confidence, curiosity and professional awareness.
As we reflect on another successful Explorer program, we are already looking ahead and actively developing programming opportunities for 2027 Health Career Explorers.
