CEC Conversation on Health Disparities: LGBTQ+ Panel Wed 2/3 6 pm

The Community Engaged Care Program invites students, faculty, and staff at all UTHSC campuses to join us on Wednesday, February 3 at 6 pm for a discussion about how the social determinants of health relate to the LGBTQ+ community. Sex, gender, and identity play an important role in health outcomes and can determine a person’s access to resources, including education, food, housing, and medical care. This panel will explore sex- and gender-related causes of illness and inequality and propose ways that healthcare providers can make a difference. Our panelists include Stephanie Bell (Director of the Metamorphosis Project for Youth Emergency Services at OUTMemphis: The LGBTQ Center for the Mid-South), Kayla Rena Gore (Co-Founder, My Sistah’s House, a nonprofit that assists the trans community), and Dr. Crystal Walker (Assistant Professor – UTHSC College of Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner – Regional One Health ).
