70% of people who need a bone marrow transplant do not have a match within their family and rely on donation from an unrelated donor, found via the national registry. The Hematology Oncology Student Interest Group is sponsoring a bone marrow donor registration drive. On Wednesday, September 17, we will be in the GEB lobby from 12-2 PM. On Thursday, September 18, we will be in the lobby of the 920 Madison building from 12-2 PM. Registration should take less than 5 minutes and involves a simple mouth swab. Those who register will be added to a national registry of bone marrow donors and have the potential to participate in the life saving process of bone marrow donation.
