2021 Performance Management Forms Due March 31

It is time to begin the annual performance management process! The performance management process provides an opportunity for staff and supervisors to step back from day-to-day activities to reflect on accomplishments of the previous year. This is also a time to recognize career opportunities and to set clear goals and expectations for future successes. The performance management process encourages employees to celebrate career performance and identify ways to further enhance professional development.

The annual performance review process is a key component of continual employee development at UT. It provides an opportunity for employees and supervisors to:

  1. Collaboratively reflect on job performance and professional accomplishments from the previous year
  2. Set goals for professional development
  3. Establish objectives for contributing to your department’s mission
  4. Recalibrate expectations and goals for the new year

Last year, we introduced inclusion, diversity and engagement (IDE) as a new key element within the overall process to ensure that we are collectively moving forward towards inclusive excellence. For 2022, we will incorporate the Be One UT Values into the evaluation cycle. These core values support the university’s vision and help ensure everyone is working toward the same goals.

Staff performance discussions for 2021 should be completed and submitted by March 31. If you are a supervisor who conducts reviews, this is a friendly reminder to start scheduling meetings, requesting self-assessments, compiling notes and setting new goals for each of your direct reports.

For all staff members, you can prepare for your own review by thinking through the conversation you’d like to have with your supervisor and identifying important goals and accomplishments you would like to achieve this year.
