The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Nursing is saluting the 30th anniversary of the Memphis International Airport’s Dorothy L. Bobbitt Health Station, one of the college’s nursing faculty practice enterprises. They are celebrating the health station’s anniversary by sponsoring “Health and Safety Expo 2005” from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday, October 7 in the main lobby of the airport.

Co-sponsored by the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority, the Expo will feature just about every major health provider in Memphis, as well as the Memphis Police and Fire Departments. Education, financial institutions, and health and fitness centers will also be represented. “We’ve tried to cover the entire spectrum of health and safety with exhibits from a wide variety of services,” said June Reed, UTHSC nurse at the airport health station and organizer of the event.

Attendees can have their blood pressure checked or get backpack safety education, and children can pick up their very own fingerprint kit. They can also enjoy food and beverages from several local providers.

“The expo is a great opportunity for UTHSC to demonstrate its commitment to community service by raising awareness of a variety of Memphis health and public safety services for adults and children,” noted Ms. Reed.
