UTHSC Communications and Marketing Team Earns Platinum MarCom Award in 2013 International Competition

Marcom BSN Reborn EntryThe Communications and Marketing Department of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) has earned top honors – Platinum – in the 2013 MarCom Awards. An international creative competition, the MarCom Awards recognize outstanding achievement by marketing and communications professionals. UTHSC’s team submitted only one entry in the annual competition titled, “BSN Reborn!” Entered in the Strategic Communications category, the submission documented the re-launch of the UTHSC Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program after a five-year hiatus. UTHSC Communications and Marketing worked in partnership with the UTHSC College of Nursing recruitment team, developing an integrated marketing and promotion campaign that helped garner 176 applications for the 70 available openings in the reinstated BSN program.

MarCom’s prestigious Platinum Award is presented to those entries judged to be among the most outstanding entries in the competition, the award letter stated. Platinum winners are recognized for their excellence in terms of quality, creativity and resourcefulness.

One of the largest competitions of its kind in the world, MarCom is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. This year, MarCom drew more than 6,500 entries in some 250 categories. While the majority of the winning submissions are from the United States and Canada, Platinum and Gold awards were also earned by entries from Australia, Brazil, Dubai, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Poland, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sweden, Trinidad, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. Submissions are made by corporate marketing and communications professionals, advertising agencies, public relations firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers.
